Frequently Asked Questions

What's the custom engagement ring and wedding band process?

Our custom bridal process starts with an initial appointment where we take the time to meet you, get to know you, and understand exactly what you're looking for. Building a strong relationship with our customers is very important to us, especially when creating something as meaningful as an engagement ring or wedding band.

We start by listening to your ideas and looking through any inspiration photos, videos, sketches, or designs you bring with you. From there, we'll explain exactly how we bring your vision to life.

Throughout the process, education is a big part of what we do. We'll discuss design, structural integrity, quality, and all of the different options available to you. For engagement rings, we'll also give you an in-depth education on diamonds and show you a variety of center stones that fit your preferences and budget.

Once we have a strong foundation for your ring design and you've selected your center stone, we'll provide you with a price. A 50% deposit is required to officially begin your custom ring.

Next, we create detailed CAD drawings and 3D renderings based on the exact measurements of your selected stone, finger size, and all of your design specifications.

This is the first way we guarantee your satisfaction: we offer unlimited CAD revisions until you're 100% happy with your ring design. Stuck between two completely different designs? No problem. We can even design both rings so you can see realistic 3D renderings of each before deciding which one you love.

Once you approve the final design, we begin making your ring in-house. The process starts with a 3D wax print, followed by casting and polishing, and finally stone setting and finishing.

At every stage, we carefully inspect your ring for imperfections and make sure it meets our standards. If something isn't up to our standards, we scrap it and start over. We're committed to crafting every engagement ring and wedding band at the highest quality possible.

The entire custom process typically takes around 3–6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the ring and how quickly we finalize the design.

What's the custom jewelry and jewelry repurposing process?

Our custom jewelry process starts with an initial appointment where we take the time to meet you, understand what you're looking to create, and learn the story behind the piece.

Whether you're starting with a new idea or repurposing jewelry you already own, we begin by discussing your vision and looking through any inspiration photos, videos, sketches, or designs you may have.

If you're repurposing an existing piece, we can often reuse your own gold and diamonds in the new design. This allows you to preserve the sentimental value of the original jewelry while transforming it into something you'll actually wear and enjoy again. It can also significantly reduce the cost of the project since you're providing much of the raw material.

From there, we'll discuss what's possible with your existing materials, design options, structural integrity, and any additional diamonds or materials that may be needed. We'll walk you through the process and help you make the right decisions for both the design and longevity of the finished piece.

Once we have a strong foundation for the design, we'll provide you with a price. A 50–70% deposit is required to begin the project, with the remaining balance due when you pick up the finished piece.

Next, we create detailed CAD drawings and 3D renderings based on the exact measurements of your stones and all of your design specifications. We offer unlimited CAD revisions, giving you the opportunity to make changes and perfect the design before we begin manufacturing.

Once you approve the final CAD, we begin making your piece in-house. The process starts with a 3D wax print, followed by casting and polishing, and finally stone setting and finishing.

At every stage, we carefully inspect the piece to make sure it meets our quality standards. If something isn't up to our standards during manufacturing, we'll scrap it and start over. We're committed to producing every custom piece at the highest quality possible.

The entire process typically takes around 3–6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the project and how quickly the design is finalized.

Our goal is to take jewelry, diamonds, and precious metals that may have been sitting unworn for years andgive them a new life while preserving the memories and sentimental value behind them.

Do you make your jewelry in-house?

Yes! We make approximately 90% of our diamond jewelry in-house, allowing us to maintain high quality standards throughout the entire process. By producing our jewelry ourselves, we're also able to cut out unnecessary middlemen and pass those cost savings directly on to our customers.

Do you buy gold?

Yes! We buy gold jewelry every day and are committed to paying top dollar in the area.

How are we able to pay more? Our goal isn't to profit from the scrap value or simply resell your jewelry. Instead, we recycle the gold we purchase and transform it into new fine jewelry.

Our value is created through design and custom craftsmanship, allowing us to offer our customers competitive prices for their gold.

What is the process if I want to sell my gold to you?

Simply bring your gold into one of our locations, and we'll examine everything right in front of you with full transparency.

We use an XRF machine to accurately test the purity of your gold and show you the results. From there, we'll weigh your gold and calculate its value based on the current gold market price.

We'll explain what we're doing and help educate you throughout the entire process, so you understand exactly how we arrived at our offer.

There is no obligation to sell. If you decide to accept our offer, you'll get paid on the spot!

Do you offer a warranty on your custom bridal jewelry?

Yes! We provide a lifetime manufacturing warranty on all of our custom engagement rings and wedding bands.

Jewelry naturally experiences wear and tear over time, and we're always here to help. Whether your ring needs routine maintenance, an adjustment, or a repair, you can bring it back to us anytime and our team will help keep it looking and wearing its best for years to come.

Do you have a selection of engagement rings I can buy right out of the showcase?

Yes, we do! While many of our customers choose to go the custom route to add their own personal touch, we understand that custom isn't for everyone.

That's why we're always adding new engagement rings to our showcase, from timeless classics to more unique designs. If you find the one you love, you can purchase it and take it home the same day!

Do you repair jewelry?

What is the jewelry appraisal process?

To have a piece of jewelry appraised at Kevin's Jewelers, simply visit one of our locations with the piece or pieces you'd like appraised.

If you make an appointment, you do not need to leave your jewelry with us. Our appraiser can examine your jewelry, take the necessary photos and notes, and gather all the information needed while you wait.

Once completed, you'll receive a comprehensive appraisal report detailing the item's specifications, value, and other important information.

Appraisals are typically completed within 1–4 days, depending on how busy we are at the time.

What is the difference between lab-grown & natural mined diamonds?

Lab-grown diamonds are created in a laboratory using technology that mimics the natural conditions under which diamonds form deep within the Earth. Although they develop in weeks rather than billions of years, they are made of the same carbon atoms arranged in the same crystal structure as natural diamonds. This makes them chemically, physically, and optically identical to natural diamonds.

How can I clean my jewelry at home?

While we always recommend bringing your jewelry to one of our locations for professional complementary cleaning and inspection, we understand the importance of regular maintenance at home. To care for your jewelry, it is advisable to keep pieces separate when storing them. Start by using a lint-free cloth to remove any surface dirt. Clean with warm water and mild soap, gently scrubbing with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Be sure to rinse thoroughly to remove any soap residue and dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.
